Racing

Flat Track Motorcycle Racing is back in York.  It was a success in 2012 & 2013.  It will be even better in 2014!

For your enjoyment, we brought back the thrill of flat track motorcycle  at our 2012 inaugural event and EXPANDED the racing for 2013.  We will again offer 2 days of action packed racing in 2014.

This year, the engines will rev on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21.

Saturday’s racing will again be the Randy Texter Memorial Race and also the culmination of the AMA sanctioned All Star National Flat Track Series in the Northeast. We expect to have numerous classes, as we have in the past.  And we plan to bring back the vintage bikes too (see our home page post for details on that exhibition of live history).  On Sunday, we plan to host the District 6, East Coast Flat Track Racing & State Championship.

At White Rose Thunder® 2014, we will again offer a demonstration showing how early motorcycle racing looked and sounded, with rare, real & original machines. Thanks to arrangements with Curtis Fisk of Full Circle V Twin, collector Steve Lippoldt will bring his 2 Harley-Davidson race machines, a 1914 and a 1915.  And Steve’s friend will bring 2 Excelsior race bikes.  We expect to have other riders and antique bikes join them.

They are going to put on a show by having a  Harley Davidson vs. Excelsior match race for your enjoyment.  The race will be a 4 lap show. The bike will be push-started onto the track, the racers will take a lap to get the bikes lined up, and then they will come off turn 4 to take the green flag for the 4 lap race.

This race will be a treat for all motorcycle enthusiasts, as you will see these authentic bikes operated on our half mile track, getting dirty, & having fun.  You will experience the roots of flat track racing as they were nearly a century ago.  And it will add to your flat track experience, as the professionals race for you that day in White Rose Thunder’s Flat Track Races.  The time for this rare exhibition race is being determined, so come for the whole day.  Or check back to this website or follow us on Facebook for more details.

These antique bikes will be on display on Friday at White Rose Thunder® too.
